McCall's 6956 - Wrap Dress, View D - Completed.

Oh, how I love this pattern! Here is McCall's 6959 Woven wrap dress completed. I participated in a sew-a-long hosted by Rin , who finds time to do a lot of creating. I have made this dress before in View A here  and that when I feel in love with it, as well as the working with bias tape. Trust me this is easy to stitch up. Material Selection: I selected a linen-look poly-rayon fabric from Hancock Fabric and yes I need more of this fabric. This sews up wonderfully AND iron beautifully! It 50% rayon and 50% polyester and holds its shape quite well. I didn't make any adjustment to the pattern and stitched it up based on the size 18 measurements. Cost of Project: Since the fabric was not in my stash and it was on sale, around $16.00. No complaints here. Conclusion: I do have plans to make at least two more. I would love to do this in an Ankara print or even a novelty print. Now that I think about it perhaps in a two color combination. Ahh, getting all kinda of creative i

Up next, McCall's 6901

Now that I have almost finished my woven wrap dress for the sewalong hosted by Rin of Sew in Love (just need to finish the hem), I getting ready to sit down and create a nice pair of pants? I've had this pattern for awhile and have read some of the reviews and cast them to the wind.  I found this great pair of pants at Kohl's that are so comfortable to wear and didn't realize this pattern is close to it! How is that for inspiration? So I found this gorgeous gabardine fabric at Hancock's Fabrics sometimes last month and yes, I just had to get it, lol.  Although I'm returning to my love for dresses and skirts this year, a girl still needs a few pair of great pants and I do believe they will fit the bill. So I am off to cut the pieces out and get everything prepped for sewing. Even if I have to wait until Saturday.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Enjoy your day!

McCalls's 6959 - Sew Along hosted by Sew in Love.

When I first sewed this dress I made View A and it sure came out cute! So when Rin  of Sew in Love was so kind to leave me a comment on the dress and mentioned she was hosting a sew along, I knew it was time to make it again, especially with all the comments I was receiving when I first wore it.  So this one will be my first dress for the spring, how awesome is that? This time I'll stitching up View D and my fabric choice this time around is a linen. I stopped in Hancock Fabrics for snaps and thread and the material was on sale and next thing I knew, I visualized my dress. I almost selected some cotton but this is just as fluid and comfortable. This week she posted part two and I have prepped, marked and basted what I needed before I get started. Now it off to the machine! I'll be sure to keep you posted when it's completed.
